Experience
I began tutoring during my undergraduate days at Dordt College, located in Iowa. While at Dordt, I tutored English and history and also worked with my peers to help them develop their time management skills. I also learned more about tutoring while I was a student at Oxford, as the classes I took were modeled after the tutorial system. After graduating from Dordt, I left for Peru. While in Peru, I became a certified ESL instructor. Right now, I am pursing an Art degree at San Diego State University.My favorite subjects to tutor are literature and history. Not only can I help students with understanding the great world of literature, but I can also help students improve their writing, editing, and grammar and mechanics. I am able to help high school students prepare for a variety of AP history exams. I believe tutoring sessions are most effective when the student and I outline attainable goals and I use educational methods that speak to how the student best learns. My sessions are fun so that students remain engaged to the topics.I enjoy hiking with friends, cooking, and singing.
